Measured shade, airflow and surface temperatures to propose a lower-energy shelter design.
StageResearch, Stage 2 of 7
Campus shelters trap heat by midday. Can shape and shade do the work of air conditioning?
A double roof with a ventilated gap, drawn and built at model scale to compare with the existing design.
Temperature and airflow loggers recorded four existing shelters for a month; a scale model then tested a raised, vented roof.
